Poker talent clearly runs deep in the Cordeiro family. Gary Cordeiro, the father of PokerStars ambassador and popular poker content creator Marle Spragg, added another highlight to his résumé this week by winning a live tournament in Las Vegas — his second victory of the year.
Cordeiro’s latest triumph came at Wynn Las Vegas, where he topped a $200 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo after agreeing to a heads-up deal, earning $4,922 for the win. The timing made the result even sweeter, as it coincided with Spragg’s birthday.
Like Daughter, Like Father
Spragg wasted no time sharing the news on social media, proudly celebrating her father’s success.
“He’s been working on his game a lot!” the PokerStars ambassador posted on X. “You love to see it.”
Cordeiro has long been a key influence in Spragg’s poker journey, having introduced her to the game years ago. His own poker story is far from new, either. Since recording his first live cash back in 2004, Cordeiro has accumulated $78,782 in Hendon Mob earnings.
Earlier this year, he captured another title by winning a $150 Monster Stack event at The Orleans on January 3, banking $2,736 after a final-table deal. In 2025, he also logged two cashes at the World Series of Poker, along with a deep run in the EPT Monte Carlo PokerStars Open Main Event.
A Family Affair at the Tables
Spragg herself has built an impressive career, earning $537,781 in live tournament winnings since her first cash in 2013, alongside securing a PokerStars ambassadorship. The father-daughter duo even teamed up at the 2025 WSOP Tag Team event, cashing for $1,055 together.
They are far from the only successful parent-child pairing in poker history. The most iconic example remains Doyle Brunson and Todd Brunson, but plenty of modern stories continue to emerge. Last summer, Yosef Fox won the $10,000 Mystery Bounty bracelet six years after his son Jorden Fox claimed one of his own. In 2025, Brett Emerick and Austin Emerick joined the list by winning the Free Poker Network $200 Tag Team Championship in Las Vegas.
Even poker royalty is seeing the next generation step into the spotlight, with sons of legends like Phil Hellmuth and reigning Main Event champion Michael Mizrachi making their presence felt at the tables.
For Gary Cordeiro, though, the focus remains simple: steady improvement, meaningful wins, and sharing the joy of poker with his daughter — one tournament victory at a time.
